AYURVEDIC BLISS BALLS

AYURVEDIC BLISS BALLS
October 5, 2020

I recently had to create an ayurvedic bliss ball recipe that was low in fruit and nuts. All of my bliss balls are made primarily with dried fruit and whole nuts! So this was new to me! The result though is a really soft, nourishing bliss ball that is really grounding, not overly sweet and nourishing with its balance of wholefoods and spices.

I made a different flavour to balance each Ayurvedic dosha (body type) – yellow for Vata, red for Kapha and blue for Pitta. I made them though the same time as Halloween! So while I thought they were a great Ayurvedic recipe, I also thought they made a great healthy Halloween treat for kids, which is why I wanted to share them with you this week.

I hope you enjoy them!

AYURVEDIC BLISS BALLS

Base Mixture:

  • 1 cup coconut flour
  • 1 cup blanched almond flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 ½ tablespoons coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoons coconut nectar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla plant-based protein powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom
  • a good pinch of salt and black pepper
  • 1 banana (not overripe)
  • 2 tablespoons coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

For Flavours/Colours:

*Yellow: 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

*Blue: 1 teaspoon butterfly pea powder

*Red: 1 teaspoon beetroot powder

Method:

Simply combine all the base ingredients in your food processor and process until the mixture comes together and it will hold when you pinch it between your fingers.

Dive the mixture into thirds and place each third back in the food processor with the different colour ingredients. Wash the food processor each time so the colours don’t mix and combine!

Roll into balls and roll in coconut. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
